Colt’s Government 9mm due next month
10th April 2013
Made exclusively for the Australian market, Colt’s new Government 1911 9mm semi-auto pistol will arrive in Australia in May.
“Colt has been making the 1911 in .45-calibre for over 100 years, but has not produced a fullsized 1911 chambered in 9mm since the 1990s, so it’s exciting to have this model available again in Australia,” said Frontier Arms Sales Director Bernard Papps.
The new version has been made to the Government model specifications, which is a direct descendant of the original Colt M1911. The 5" (127mm) barrelled pistol has a blued finish, double diamond rosewood grips, a spur hammer, solid aluminium trigger, bevelled magazine well, a standard safety lock and standard grip safety, and weighs around 37oz (1050g). A long trigger, flat mainspring housing and original-style recoil spring system remain from the original M1911 design, but upgrades include fixed high-profile white dot sights and a lowered ejection port for extra reliability.
Colt’s legendary quality is derived from the forging techniques used in the manufacturing process. Each Colt 1911 has a forged steel receiver, forged steel slide, forged steel barrel and forged steel slide stop. By forging these key components from steel, rather than casting, Colt produces a pistol of the highest quality. As with all Colt firearms, this model is 100 per cent made in the United States.
Colt M2012 .308 rifle review in Guns Australia
2nd April 2013
April’s Guns Australia magazine has had some fun extracting some serious accuracy out of Colt’s new tactical rifle.
“Colt’s M2012 is a very effective and highly accurate long-range target or varmint rifle. It made a mockery of the conservative accuracy guarantee of 1" at 100y, achieving ½" at 200y with a factory hunting load”.

We congratulate the winners and look forward to recognizing them at the NRA Annual Meetings in Houston.”

Knobloch shooting glasses reviewed in Australian Shooter
1st February 2013
The Knobloch range of shooting glasses is reviewed in this month’s Australian Shooter magazine.
“The K5 model really grabbed my attention. I can’t remember seeing a better made frame in all my years of shotgunning. The K5 is superbly constructed, with the feeling and look of no expense having been spared. They are designed for two-handed shooting and Rapid Fire Pistol, as well as Trap and Skeet. Clearly, they are also perfect for the increasingly popular Sporting Clays events. The big advantage of these frames is they can be adjusted very high, so that the glasses don’t come in contact with the comb of the shotgun.”

T/C Venture Weather Shield rifle review in Guns Australia
2nd January 2013
Guns Australia January magazine has a full review on the all-weather Thompson Center Venture Weather Shield rifle chambered in the popular .308.
“This Venture certainly could deliver...The first group measured a surprising 0.548", to remove the possible fluke factor, it was followed up with a second group at 0.624". This is very impressive performance from a light barrelled hunting rifle and of course it fully upholds T/C's accuracy guarantee.”
“T/C’s philosophy of not cutting corners on accuracy or function in order to produce a lower priced rifle, supported by the demonstrated performance, has impressed the writer sufficiently to purchase this rifle, fit it with a 2-12X scope to fully explore it's potential for versatility. It has not disappointed!”

Walther’s LGV Series - the future of air rifles
9th May 2012
When it designed the LGV in 1964, Walther focused on improving the repeat accuracy of the hinge, an essential precision factor in a break-barrel rifle. This was achieved by means of a new barrel with positive locking, representing a significant improvement over the non-positive barrel locks used in break-barrel systems up to that time. Now, almost 50 years after developing the first LGV, a new break-barrel rifle is launched: the LGV 2012.
Decades of experience plus enormous technical expertise have gone into the new models in this series. Shooters will discover totally new qualities in a break-barrel rifle: never has shooting been so quiet and free of vibrations, and increased accuracy is the reward.
There are five models with various designs and optical systems, from the elegant LGV Challenger with HI-GRIP finish on the grip and fore-end, to the LGV Master with classic beech stock, to the blued LGV Competition Ultra with adjustable cheek piece and barrel weight. The barrel weight option is also available with the Challenger Ultra and Master Ultra air rifles. All LGV break-barrel rifles feature innovative Super Silent Technology and the Vibration Reduction System for smooth firing and increased accuracy.
Check out the full range of Walther LGV Series air rifles, or visit our booth at the SSAA Shot Expo in Sydney on June 16-17 where we will be officially launching these models in Australia. The new LGV series – Premium Quality. Made in Germany.

Walther PPQ Tactical 9mm pistol with a 120mm barrel made exclusively for the Australian market
9th September 2011
“We’ve been working with Walther for a while now, on a 9mm pistol that will comply with Australian regulations on barrel length, so we are excited that the PPQ Tactical will soon be available to the Aussie market” said Bernard Papps, Sales Director of Walther’s Australian Distributor, Frontier Arms.
The PPQ Tactical features the newly developed Quick Defense trigger and pre-cocked striker assembly which permit quick, safe firing at any time. The let-off point and trigger weight remain unchanged from the first shot to the last. The trigger has a very short reset path in keeping with the requirements of many IPSC and service shooters. The middle trigger serves as an additional, passive drop safety. These and other automatic safety features make the Walther PPQ Tactical an extremely safe pistol.
Packed with features including ambidextrous slide stop lever and magazine release, a non-slip grip with interchangeable backstraps and a MIL-STD-1913 Picatinny rail, the PPQ Tactical pistol is a tribute to German engineering and design.
The name Walther has been inseparably linked with police and service pistols for 125 years. These pistols meet the highest possible standards of quality and reliability. They are developed and perfected in cooperation with German police specialists and tested in accordance with strict German guidelines. The series of world-famous police and service pistols began with the now legendary Walther PPK and continued with the highly successful P99 and PPS. The latest innovation is the Walther PPQ and PPQ Tactical.

Walther LP400 wins Red Dot Design Award
12th July 2011
The innovative Walther LP400 Carbon air pistol has been awarded a Red Dot Award for product design 2011.
The Red Dot Award dates back to 1955 and is now one of the world’s largest and most distinguished product competitions. More than 14,000 participations from over 70 nations document the relevance of the internationally sought-after Red Dot.
This is what the Red Dot Awards team had to say:
“The LP400 Carbon air pistol is a high-tech sports item that implements, on the smallest scale, a range of innovations appropriate to the materials involved. With an aim to achieve an optimum grip position, all of the basic parameters - including weight, centre of gravity, shape, size, and angle of the grip, as well as trigger position - have been carefully balanced. Enhancing the pistol’s functionality and precision, the 3D-grip-angle setting with memory effect saves previously tested settings and makes them accessible at any time. The air pistol has a clear-cut design, boldly creating contrast between the carbon barrel and the ergonomically shaped wooden grip. With a basic weight of 870 grammes, the gun’s handling feels safe and steady.”

Thompson/Center Venture Weather Shield bolt action rifle to be launched at Melbourne SSAA SHOT Expo
16th
May 2011
Thompson/Center Arms Company has added a new rifle to its popular T/C Venture lineup with the introduction of both medium and long action models available with the advanced Weather Shield finish and Hogue over-moulded grips.
“Since the launch of the Venture in 2009, Aussie hunters have been asking us when an all-weather version will be available, so we are very excited to launch this new model at the SHOT Expo” said Bernard Papps, Sales Director of T/C’s Australian Distributor, Frontier Arms.
When applied to the rifle’s receiver, barrel and other critical parts, the advanced Weather Shield finish dramatically increases the durability of the firearm, proving to be 50 times more corrosion resistant than stainless steel alone. Along with the extra level of protection, the Weather Shield finish also contributes to the T/C Venture’s smooth action while providing a distinct look to this already appealing rifle.
Underneath the new finish, the Thompson/Center Venture Weather Shield retains its original features that have helped make it one of the most sought after rifles in its class. Chambered in .22-250, .308, 7mm-08, .270, .30-06, 7mm RM and .300 WM, the T/C Venture Weather Shield comes standard with a classic styled composite stock with Hogue over-moulded inlayed traction panels that provide shooters with a positive feel in any weather condition. At the heart of the T/C Venture is its super-smooth action and consistent accuracy made possible by the fat bolt design with 60-degree rise along with the rifle’s 5R rifling and match grade crown. Guaranteed to be MOA (Minute of Angle) accurate, capable of shooting three shots within one inch at 100 yards, the T/C Venture easily meets the needs of the most accuracy-driven consumers.
Made entirely in the United States and backed by T/C’s famous lifetime warranty, the T/C Venture Weather Shield rifle truly stands apart from the crowd.
